National Natural Hair Meetup Day w/FCA Naturals

Founders of FCA Naturals April McKisick (L) and Samantha Horton (R)

Hello all! This past month I attended the National Natural Hair Meetup Day along with many naturals across the USA (yes I know this is late but when life happens what can you do).  We didn’t have a meetup in the city I lived so I attended a meetup in Memphis which is a reasonable distance to drive.

The meetup was hosted by the FCA Naturals at the Playhouse On The Square on Union Ave. Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly faces and swag bags. The lobby area was filled with delicious appetizers and drinks which disappeared swiftly! Around the corner of the lobby was a hall filled with many vendors ready to help each natural with something of their preference.

In the main room there were a few vendors and natural hair salon representatives; this is also where the presentations took place. Each salon gave live demonstrations of their work and had Q&A sessions at the end. Also, there were presentations of makeup, numerology, and healthy nutrition. I was pleased that the FCA Naturals took the time to concentrate on providing information for the “whole” being and not just the hair.

Oh, last but not least they had fabulous giveaways and I had my eyes, heart, and soul set on that Karen’s Body Beautiful basket!!! I didn’t win it (boooo), but my niece won a black girls rock t-shirt and found the perfect stylist to do her big chop. It was a great event and I am very glad I chose to attend.

The lobby was packed.

There were plenty of live demos and great information.

TaKeisha Berry-Brooks and the Lovely Ladies of A Natural Affair Beauty Lounge. They did an excellent job of making my niece comfortable during her big chop!

I had to hit up the t-shirt vendors! I love me some natural hair tees!
I’m Loving  the founder Sonya of Natural Addictees for the deal she gave us.

I even got a great deal with the Natural Cuties Tees and well.

Lastly, the talented Ms. Arekah the Goddess Photography. Her photography is sick yall! Check her website out ASAP!

Well that’s all for now. Hope you enjoyed.

Okay, so when I attended the WNHS I stayed at the Marriott-Gateway which was conveniently located next door to the Convention Center in which the hair show was held. Let me tell ya’ll, this hotel was the bomb.com! It was so nice!!!

When you arrive, you will be greeted by friendly doormen who will quickly assist you in unloading your luggage from your car, shuttle, or taxi. Next, if you drove yourself, valet will whisk your vehicle off to safe parking.

When you enter the lobby you will be greeted with a beautiful modern atmosphere that is both welcoming and exciting. It is a place that you are happy you chose to be. The front desk clerks are very polite and very personable. After checking in, the friendly bellhop will escort you to your room (don’t forget to tip).

The rooms were oh so comforting and inviting. The beds looked as if they were whispering, “come and rest for you have traveled far” (lol). They were as comfortable as they appeared. I slept like a baby the entire time I was there.

We stayed in a double room.

We arrived early that morning so after dropping off our luggage we went downstairs and ate at the in-hotel restaurant called Champions. We opted for the breakfast bar that was fully loaded and it came equipped with a chef to prepare fresh omelets in front of you. SN: breakfast, lunch, and dinner are hella expensive here so make sure you come fully prepared to splurge for every meal if you don’t have a car to travel and eat.

The oh-so delicious yet hella expensive breakfast bar.

After the hair show, we returned to the hotel and had lunch. The hotel’s lobby doubles as a bar and that bar has a full menu you can dine from as well so we chose to eat there for lunch. The crab bisque is Ahhmazeballs!

We went to our rooms to relax for awhile and later decided to go for a couple of drinks. This, ladies and gentlemen was when our night became very interesting. When we walked up to the bar and took our seats, we were greeted with a warm smile and a very charismatic personality. After asking what would we like, I requested a drink that my friend had at Champions earlier that tasted really delicious. She responded, “sweetie we don’t serve those drinks over here.” I replied, you don’t, “well what do you serve?” She responded, “we serve the goood stuff over here.” And that my friends, was the beginning of a great night. My friends and I are very picky about the taste of our cocktails or martinis. Some of us are more picky than others, hmph. However, with Ms. Deborah tending the bar, there wasn’t one complaint that night. She would simply ask what do you like? Then based off of your response, she fixed the perfect concoctions custom made to your unique tastes. Also when it comes to great conversation, we laughed and chatted about an array of topics. I’m telling you, this woman was so fun that when she attended to the needs of the other patrons, I think my friends and I slick became jealous and felt abandoned, lol. This hotel was wonderful and beautiful all on its on but the beautiful Georgia Peach behind the bar is what makes me excited about going back.

Okay, so here were my OOTD’s while I was in the ATL!

I know, I know, you can’t see the shoes. They were simple 3 in heels the same darker blue color you see on my jewelry.

This outfit was so comfy. Perfect for product hunting!

Earthy goddess!
